<room 003>은 작가가 이미지를 직접 그리는 창작자보다, 작품이 생산되는 규칙과 장치를 운영하는 엔지니어의 위치에 놓이는 감각에서 출발한 작업이다. 아날로그 이젤 위의 나무 드로잉 머신은 입력된 좌표값과 반복 규칙에 따라 기하학적 선을 생성하고, 그 결과는 벽면에 축적된다. 드로잉은 손의 표현이라기보다 3D 좌표와 설정값이 평면 위로 번역된 출력물에 가깝다. 이 작업은 전시장을 완성된 작품의 장소가 아니라, 이미지가 계속 생산되는 작은 공장처럼 작동시킨다.
<room 003> begins from the sensation of being placed less in the position of an artist who directly draws images, and more in the position of an engineer who operates the rules and devices through which works are produced. A wooden drawing machine placed on an analog easel generates geometric lines according to entered coordinate values and repetitive rules, and the resulting drawings accumulate on the wall.
The drawings are closer to outputs in which 3D coordinates and preset values are translated onto a flat surface, rather than expressions made directly by hand. In this work, the exhibition space functions not as a place for completed artworks, but as a small factory where images continue to be produced.
