<정영호>는 존재하지 않는 조각가의 작업을 설정하고, 디지털 이미지가 복제와 변환을 거쳐 물리적 흔적으로 나타나는 과정을 다룬 작업이다. 생성된 조각 이미지는 흑백 톤과 노이즈를 더해 필름의 입자와 오래된 기록의 질감을 모방하고, 다시 아날로그 필름으로 출력되어 슬라이드와 환등기를 통해 설치된다.
이 과정에서 원본은 고정되지 않고, 이미지는 매체를 옮겨가며 계속 변형된다. 실제로 존재하지 않는 작품은 복제를 거듭하며 마치 오래된 흔적을 가진 것처럼 나타난다. 함께 구성된 영상은 실제 원로 작가를 인터뷰한 경험을 바탕으로, 그가 머물던 자연의 풍경과 시간의 흐름을 따라가다가 마지막에는 디지털 렌더링 이미지로 전환된다. 작업은 실재와 허구, 기록과 복제 사이에서 조각의 흔적이 만들어지는 방식을 보여준다.
<Jeong Youngho> is a work that imagines the practice of a sculptor who does not exist, and explores the process through which digital images appear as physical traces through reproduction and transformation. The generated sculptural images are altered with black-and-white tones and noise, imitating the grain of film and the texture of old records, then printed again onto analog film and installed through slides and a projector.
In this process, the original is never fixed, and the image continues to transform as it moves across different media. A work that does not actually exist comes to appear as if it carries old traces through repeated acts of reproduction. The accompanying video is based on an interview with an actual senior artist, following the natural landscape where he stayed and the passage of time there, before finally shifting into a digitally rendered image. The work reveals how traces of sculpture are produced between reality and fiction, record and reproduction.
