A material separator is a part of an architectural system used to divide and finish the boundary where different materials meet. Like a curb separating a flower bed from a sidewalk, its function is to divide spaces and prevent different materials from invading one another. What is interesting about a material separator is that it allows different materials to coexist.

I think of myself as a material separator. With an identity that belongs nowhere completely, I move through the empty spaces between boundaries.
